This uncirculated 5,000 Colombian peso banknote is a standard circulation banknote issued by the Bank of the Republic of Colombia. It is a brown note that is dated 26 May 2020, bear the signatures of Juan Jose Echavarria and Marcela Ocampo and measures 133 mm by 66 mm. Its obverse side honors the poet Jose Asuncion Silva with two portraits—a close-up and a full-body portrait of his back. Its obverse side also includes the denomination in dark brown-to-light brown OVI and a Puya plant in copper-to-green OVI. Its reverse side shows a spectacled bear (Tremarctos ornatus) walking on four legs with an Andean condor flying above the mountainous landscape of Paramos de Colombia Fuentes de Agua, an excerpt of Jose Asuncion Silva’s “Melancolia”, and the Liberty head bank seal. Security features include a BRC registration device, a bumblebee registration device, a fuchsia-to-green windowed security thread with demetalized BRC and bumblebee, and a watermark of Jose Asuncion Silva with an electrotype 5.
